Children love toys, but some families cannot afford to buy them. So we had the simple idea of asking members to bring a toy (new or used) to the club. The collected toys were then passed to some of the poorer families in our club communities. The project links into Children’s Day.
How did it start?
We wanted to create a project that coincided with Children’s Day (El Día Del Niño) which in Mexico is celebrated on April 30.
We simply wanted to collect as many toys as possible.
We created special collection bins which were placed in our clubs.
Through the generosity of our members, we collected 3,000 toys. 3,000 toys creates a lot of happy children.
A beautifully simple project that all members can engage in. Whether we have children or not, we all have ‘toys’ in our homes that could put a smile on a child’s face.
